Evolution of Zero Waste

For the 2014 USZWBC Conference - Creating Value Through Zero Waste, the superb program topics substantiated the zero waste industry's continued evolution. Hosted in Atlanta, GA, the conference sessions addressed the far-reaching impacts of zero waste practices.

During the conference, Ei founder Holly Elmore was honored with the Zero Waste Promoter of the Year award!

Charlotte Focuses on Food Waste with EPA Grant Support

During Earth Week 2014 Charlotte received a boost to their strong food waste reduction focus when an EPA Region IV Grant Team visited the grand city for three action packed days. Ei is a sub-grantee under the Sustainable Packaging Coalition's EPA Scaling up Composting in Charlotte, NC Grant. With a plethora of back-to-back meetings and tours scheduled, the team recruited participants for the grant program.

ATL Welcomes Global Land Economics Group

The Lambda Alpha International Atlanta Chapter hosted the Spring 2014 Land Economics Weekend (LEW) in April attracting a global contingency eager to learn about Atlanta's history, challenges and accomplishments. The tours and presentations focused on the Downtown and Midtown business districts. 

Ei founder, Holly Elmore, is a member of the honorary society dedicated to the advancement of land economics.

Beyond Easy Wins...

Sunny Seattle Pre-Conference 
The Spring 2014 Sustainable Packaging Coalition Conference in Seattle explored future directions in zero waste initiatives, available recycling options along with the integral role packaging plays in successful recovery systems. 

The SPC Conference was a powerful experience for national and global packaging industry leaders. Ei attended as a media sponsor and was well represented by Ei Partners and Strategic Allies.

National Restaurant Association Show Conference

Each May the National Restaurant Association Show in Chicago is a top priority in Ei's travel schedule. Ei Partners, Supporters, Strategic Allies and Advisers speak in educational sessions, host booths in the Show exhibit halls and participate as Show attendees. 

As in prior years, the Show was an impressive industry gathering. Tangible and intangible benefits are abundant for those open to experience the magic of the prominent Show that attracts 60,000 plus attendees.

Ei Joins EPA Food Recovery Challenge

With strong connections to foodservice industry leaders, Ei joined the Food Recovery Challenge (FRC) as an Endorser, committing to recruit Program Participants as well as additional Endorsers. 

During a 2014 USZWBC Conference plenary session, Jon Johnston with the EPA gave an FRC overview along with accolades to the impressive program recruitment in less than three months.

Ei Blogs Surpass Coveted 200,000 Pageviews!

The Zero Waste in ACTION Blog surpasses 149,000 pageviews, with the all-time most popular post Reduce First, Donate Second and Compost Third climbing to over 7,000 pageviews. The IMPACT Blog reached the coveted 55,000 pageviews, giving a combined Blogs pageviews of over 200,000! Impressive and inspiring numbers to keep the momentum building for Sustainability in ACTION!

The Soil in the City Conference theme is “restoring our available urban land and optimizing local resources, while protecting environmental and human health and enhancing socio-cultural dialogue." The conference will focus on three themes: Urban Gardening, Green Infrastructures and Greening Brownfields. The last day of the conference features a tour of the largest wastewater treatment 
plant in the world!

NC State University Vermicompost Conference 
July 31 – August 01, 2014
Raleigh, NC

The Vermicompost Conference will provide the tools you need to start or expand an earthworm and vermicompost production operation. You will also learn the latest research on the effects of vermicompost and extracts (tea) on plant growth and disease suppression, how growers are effectively marketing earthworms and vermicompost, and the different technologies being utilized.
