Ei Initiatives Receive National Recognition in NRA Blog

In October, the National Restaurant Association featured Ei initiatives in three NRA News Hub articles. The ZWZ Blog post, Sustainability = SHARING, gives an overview plus commentary for two of the articles, Atlanta operators help SC peers aim for zero waste, and Sustainable initiative aims to green food courts. ZWZ-Caterers Champion Patrick Cuccaro was profiled in the NRA article, Aiming for zero waste bring increased sales for caterer, while the ZWZ Blog post, ZWZ: A Powerful Marketing Tool, explains why heroes like Patrick are the backbone of ZWZ success.

Safety is Paramount

On one hand, food residuals are a valuable component to compost and waste to energy recipes. On the other hand, once food begins the decomposition process, dangerous, toxic gasses may be created when improperly handled. Thus, the strict regulations surrounding the permitting and operating of compost facilities.

Food, employee & customer safety are at the foundation of all Elemental Impact programs. Ei works closely with the National Restaurant Association and the U.S. Composting Council to ensure educational platforms are in place to create safety as an integral component to programs and projects.

The ZWZ Blog post, Safety & Education: A Necessary Marriage, gives a powerful overview of how the industry addresses safety and education.

ZWZ|SFCI Visit Charlotte

Ei visited Charlotte to explore the landscape for Zero Waste Zones and a Sustainable Food Court Initiative Pilot. Read the ZWZ Blog post, Fertile Charlotte Grounds, to learn about some of the amazing initiatives in place and the potential to work with a sister city. The title gives a hint to the creative use of Starbucks coffee grounds at the Charlotte Airport!
